You may be able to, but it is a very uncommon size for LCDs for some reason, and I couldn't find any. There are 50" LCD Projection TVs, there are 50" Plasma TVs. The only close LCD sizes appear to be either 47" or 52".

In terms of prices, occasionally deals for 47" LCDs fall around $1000, but 52" models still bring a premium. The best deal I could find on a 47" right now is the Westinghouse TX-47F430S at Buy.com for $1529. I hope that helps.
